One of your competitors is offering as part of their software agreement free training on how to use Facebook to promote our business. "It will also cover Facebook, what it is and how to use it; setting up a Facebook page for your business; how to attract friends to your Facebook page and how to use your facebook page to spread your retail narrative."

Are you going to offer the same to your customers?

I cannot see any reason why not. It is very easy to use but if someone wants, I am only too happy to set up for them an account on Facebook.

Facebook is certainly popular. Worldwide it has more than 400 million active users; 50% of these users log on to it everyday. In Australia, 8 million people use Facebook regularly (that’s around 40% of our population!)

We are also lucky as we have three people Paul, Garth and Daniel, who love Facebook. I am sure one would be only too pleased to run someone though it on a webinar. We could also ask one of our clients who uses it often and is actually rated the top in Facebook in newsagencies to help out. I also have some interesting notes and lectures for marketing on Facebook that we could use.

Let me warn anyone thinking of trying this form of advertising that you need to be prepared to work on it, and you need a continous supply of photos as facebook is big in photo sharing. Before you start I suggest you checkout some of our clients.

Glenn and Jenny from Nextra Forum West Newsagency who won in 2005 Australian Newsagent of the Year and are now trying very hard to get a place in facebook.

Another is Mark from newsXpress sarina, he has now over 500 people following his facebook. Note see how he always has a lot of photos on his wall - magazines, dollar notes, staff, etc.

Jenny at Geyers Newsagency, runs a very successful Facebook account too. She gets a lot of hits with her page.
