Laser printed labels

Several people have asked to see what the latest laser labels look like, so I made some pictures of them.
Here is a laser printed barcode label. It may look a bit untidy but, as you can see, much of the relevant information is there.
Here is a label produced on a barcode printer.
As you can see, the item description is clearer, thereby making it more legible. On the right, it has some product details that are clearly marked.
The barcode number is printed below the barcode itself, so if the scanner can not read the barcode then the barcode number can be entered manually.
The name of the shop is printed on the bottom of the label making it easier to see which shop the magazine was bought from.
The important part is that I ran my fingernail over the barcode printed label half a dozen times; nothing happened. I moistened my fingernail and ran it over the barcode again several more times. As you can see the label is fine. The labels are fairly impervious to moisture. If someone handles a label, say with wet or greasy fingers, or if it gets wet, the label will probably be fine.
I then dried my fingernail and ran it over the laser printed label about half a dozen times. See how it looks? It is useless. The barcode can not be scanned and since it does not have a written barcode number it can not be entered manually.
When I moistened my fingernail again and ran over it six times the ink on the label smudged.
Laser printed labels are usable. Many shops now use them but clearly they are not as practical as barcode printed labels.
